Brazil is the fourth-largest plastic producer in the world, with only 1.28% of these waste materials being recycled. To put the scale of the problem into perspective, Boticário presents "Planet of Plastic," an augmented reality tool that showcases scenarios overrun by garbage. It warns that if society doesn't rethink waste disposal by 2050, planet Earth could become a desert with 34 billion tons of plastic.
Starting in 2021, Boticário introduced Boti Recicla, the largest reverse logistics program in beauty products collection points in the country. All the cosmetic packaging from the company returned to its stores will be transformed into sustainable school spaces. These spaces will be made up of about 2.2 tons of recycled plastic.
